High Street
An existing 5 storey dwelling is built into a slope. Entrance level is at the third storey with a windowless room below. Our clients were looking to reconfigure the relationship of kitchen and dining room.
Our solution was to remove the third storey floor and create a gallery overlooking a new kitchen. This is fire protected by doors which close upon activation of the smoke alarms.
Kitchen units sit below the gallery with an island unit in the room. The result is a dramatic space with visual links between levels that will be a lasting centrepiece of this rejuvenated home.
